or
A SONG FOR A PRINCE WHO TURNED INTO A RAINBOW
In the summer of 2017, we performed at the opening of The New Generation Festival, a new opera festival hosted by the Corsini family, in the gardens of the Palazzo Corsini al Prato, Florence.
The Corsini arrived in Florence in the 12th century. Their line includes the saint Andrea Corsini, and Pope Clemente XII, who commissioned the Trevi Fountain.
In 2016, Prince Filippo Corsini (the current Prince Filippo's only son's only son) was tragically killed in a cycling accident in London, aged only twenty-one.
He was brought home to Italy. At the exact moment his mother opened the casket to see his face for the last time, an extraordinary thing happened.
A double rainbow appeared over the house.
(Tibetan Buddhists have reported this occuring when someone attains 'complete knowledge'.)
Gathered for grieving, the family enjoyed unexpected light -
Indeed, the opera festival went ahead partly as a celebration of Filippo, and the lasting light and colours he has given.
One of the family suggested we write a song for the opening of the festival. We wrote this to celebrate the Corsini, and Filippo's legacy.
